Parasha Thoughts |
By: Rabbi Shlomo Zargari Shalom, Our Parasha begins with the command the Children of Israel should bring forth to Moshe the ” pure, pressed olive oil for illumination …” The Ramban asks why it should only be brought to Moshe ? He answers that Moshe should be the one who should inspect it to make sure it would meet all the requirements. The obvious question is, was Moshe the only expert in this field ? The Avne Ezel explains that we find Moshe was always actively trying to show the world how sanctified the Nation of Israel is and how special they are. He wanted to show all that the Shekhina of Hashem rests upon this nation and that is why after the episode of the Golden Calf, he said ” how, then, will it be known that I have found favor in your eyes, I and your people, unless you accompany us, and I and Your people will be made distinct from every people on the face of the earth. ” (Shemot 33,16). The Menorah light was a very clear show of Hashem placing the Shekhina on our nation as it says in the Talmud (shabbat 22) It(the Menorah) is a testimony for all in the world that the Shekhina rests upon israel. That is why Hashem told Moshe : “they shall bring it to you” specially because through this, your yearning will be granted and everyone will see the sanctity of our nation. When one concentrates his thoughts and actions toward the right direction of spirituality, then the divine help will send forth for him all the help in that direction. Shabat Shalom. |
